The Standing High Row
The standing high row is not an essential component of organic fitness training; however, the modern office worker can definitely benefit from doing it, seeing as it can help correct some of the postural and musckuloskeletal imbalances that are produced by prolonged sitting and sedentary living.
The Dragon Flag
The dragon flag is a very challenging exercise that it takes time and effort to learn. In order to perform the exercise, which was popularized by the Rocky movies, one has to possess a strong set of abs. It’s also very beneficial to have a lean physique. In the video below, one of Eirik’s former clients performs the dragon flag with fairly good form.
The Kettlebell Swing
The kettlebell swing is a great exercise to incorporate into an organic fitness program. The exercise basically involves performing the hip hinge movement with added resistance and in an explosive manner, something that stresses the glutes and builds power.
Pull-Ups
The pull-up is one of the most fundamental organic fitness exercises, in the sense that the act of lifting one’s own body weight is a very natural and critical maneuver that requires the coordinated effort of various muscles of the upper body, in particular the latissimus dorsi and biceps brachii. There are several different ways to perform the pull-up. If you have trouble performing regular pull-ups, you could get a partner to help you ascend during the concentric part of the exercise, attach a band to the pull-up bar that you place under your knees, or perform negative pull-ups. In the video below, one of Eirik’s former clients performs weighted pull-ups – one of the more challenging varieties of the pull-up exercise.
Loaded Carries
Of all the exercises in which muscles are stressed by external load, this exercise, as well as other very similar exercises, are perhaps the most fundamental ones, in the sense that the act of carrying things (e.g., construction materials, food) from one place to another has always been a natural part of the human existence.
