Two New Studies Strengthen the Link Between the Human Microbiome and Obesity

Microorganisms that live in and on our bodies play an important role in overweight and obesity. Humans are inhabited by trillions of microorganisms, and two new studies strengthen the link between these microbes and obesity. Which species that are important in weight management is still not known; some studies show that lower levels of bifidobacteria is linked to increased bodyweight, while others point to elevated amounts of LPS-containing bacteria in obese and overweight individuals.
